DIY Non-Toxic Makeup Remover

Homemade Makeup Remover

I was scouring the internet for some DIY skin care recipes and found a good one.  I made a half batch, as I hardly ever wear makeup, and the shelf life on this is probably about 6 months.  So if you don’t think you’ll use it up in time, just do half.

Why should we make our own?  Generally, very simple ingredients make surprisingly good products, that often work better than ready-to-use stuff from the store!  And this way, we have a much better idea of the chemicals we’re putting on our skin.  Many makeup removers contain Methylparaben, Propylparaben, and Butylparaben (all endocrine disruptors), as well as Sodium Laureth Sulfate, and BENZYL SALICYLATE.  As a breast cancer survivor, I’m really not interested in any chemicals that have been linked to cancer.   I also enjoy saving my money.  You can make this makeup remover for about $3 vs up to $19.50 for store-bought!  I don’t know about you, but I prefer spending my money on shoes and sushi.

Where to buy:

Witch Hazel HERE (I like this one because it’s alcohol free and the preservative is benzoic acid, from raspberries, instead of parabens.)

Jojoba Oil

Almond Oil
